At Warkworth Primary School, our Science curriculum is ambitious, progressive, and transformative. It not only meets National Curriculum requirements but inspires awe, curiosity, and a love of discovery. Rooted in our Christian vision to help all experience “life in all its fullness,” we enable children to see themselves as scientists from their earliest years.

Through carefully sequenced, research-informed teaching, pupils gain deep substantive (knowledge of science) and procedural (working scientifically) understanding. Vocabulary is deliberately planned to empower children to think, talk, and write like scientists. Misconceptions are addressed thoughtfully, and enquiry skills are nurtured so pupils can investigate, question, and apply their learning with confidence.

Our curriculum connects Science meaningfully with other subjects, especially reading, and celebrates the contributions of scientists past and present. By the time they leave us, pupils are fully prepared for the challenges of high school, equipped with secure knowledge, critical thinking skills, and the curiosity to continue exploring the world as lifelong learners.

Our Science lead is Miss M Myllymaki.
